Nearly but not quite

After a friend lent me the first of the Grace series I got hooked. I bought 2 and 3 they just got better every time. I could not wait for number four. Alas I felt a bit let down. I found it hard to get into and the end was not as powerful as 'Not dead enough', but it had it's moments. But having said that, I cant wait for the next insalment.

First I've read and couldn't put it down

Just finished reading this book and completed it in 48 hours. Simply couldn't put it down. First Peter James novel I have read and given I am coming into the series part way through I had no problem picking up the ongoing character histories. Have read all Robert Goddard's books who was until recently my favourite author but who has of late lost the plot (pardon the pun). Have never been into crime fiction but this book has changed my mind. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a solid storyline and sub-plots with a few twists, especially at the end. Now going back to the start of the Grace series and looking forward to reading all his books. Great to find a new author you like.

Disappointed

After being totally hooked on the first 3 of the Roy Grace novels I find this one very disappointing. The number of characters, the very short chapters & the to-ing and fro-ing in both dates and countries left me wondering when the novel was going to get started. Not a bit as good as the other novels.

Edge of your seat

This book will, like all other Roy Grace novels, keep you hooked right from page one. With this book, Peter James goes international and writes a detective story that crosses the world. The story of Ronnie re-inventing himself in the days following 9/11 is bad taste, but it serves to remind us what an evil character he is. Totally O.T.T. and a chapter every 4 pages, you will never want your commute to end! Not as good as 'Looking Good Dead' though.

Dead brilliant !!!

I discovered Peter James with the first of his Detective Grace serie, 'Dead Simple'and thought it was an absolute success. It got me hooked from the start and after that one I read all the others and was not once disappointed. His setting is always a familiar Brighton and around, where the most striking and hair rising stories happen...In this latest, the center stage is mostly Brighton again but also a ravaged 9/11 New York and some remote australian town. True to his style, the suspense is relentless, all the characters utterly genuine and credible, and his detective Grace is an endearing man we can totally sympathise with.
Now, if the closing line of the book is not pure genius to make you salivate for the next, I don't know what is !
