Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Lacking suspense.. | Customer Rating: | I'm disappointed... I've not actually read a JP since the days of 'Kiss the Girls' and 'Along came a Spider' and after loving these novels I think I was looking forward to a thrilling ride. Instead I found his latest offering lacking in any depth with a poorly constructed, confusing plot and a yaaaawn of a finish. It just felt rushed and thrown together and I spent half the time trying to work out which killer was which and who'd done what - and no, I'm not missing the irony in that complaint - what I mean is that we were clearly supposed to be able to follow it and I found it hard work. That said, it was readable to a degree and I did finish it but I think only because I wanted to know who was who to combat my confusion - I couldn't really be bothered concentrating so that says a lot about it's ability to hold one's attention. Anyhoo - I'm sure people will disagree but I was bored with it and won't hurry to read another of his... | A compulsive page turner. | Customer Rating: | A great read. This is the first James Patterson book I've read, and now I'll be looking to read his others. Especially those featuring Alex Cross. I really enjoyed this book. It's thrilling and keeps you guessing all the way through. I really liked the characters created by Patterson, they were all that a thriller/crime book should be. | First and last time I'll bother | Customer Rating: | | This is the first and last time I'll bother reading anything by this author or from this series. The plot (such as it is) seems to have more to do with how much he lusts after his new girlfriend and how much he likes his new car. As for the 'formidable genius of Alex Cross' - he spends the entire book turning up at crime scenes and making no intelligent progress. At one point, one of the (ridiculously unbelievable) bad guy says 'don't underestimate Alex Cross'....NO - do! Do underestimate him. He's rubbish. I can't believe this dirge has received favourable reviews. | Not sure this is quite as good as others..... | Customer Rating: | | Not a bad book but certainly not his best. The plot is predictable where believalble and unpredictable where it is unbelievable. | A little disappointing... | Customer Rating: | | ..because I think that the Cross series are becoming a little predictable and 'the same'. I hope we get a more exciting next book. As much as I loved Alex Cross I hope I don't get too bored with this series. Enjoying the Womens Murder Mystery Club books more at the moment. |
