Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Beware: CD Rom is not complete | Customer Rating: | This seemed the perfect book for an adult of a certain age who wanted to refresh her knowledge of maths. The CD apparently included the answers to the set questions, so one could test oneself and check progress. Well no. The CD contains the answers to some questions, but not the ones from past papers at the end of the chapters.
I cannot describe the rage I felt when I discovered this. I feel totally misled.
This book is for people who have regular access to a teacher, not adults who wish to 'teach themselves'. That and the failure to upgrade for Vista users means that this text may frustrate as much as educate. | Good but BEWARE if you have a computer running VISTA | Customer Rating: | | I am a teacher in a comprehensive school. We have been using this book for around a year and are generally very impressed with it. Each book comes with a CD in the back, which is the entire book in an ActiveBook format. The examples, etc can all be zoomed in on, the vocabulary is all explained, the exercises are well graded and if used on the computer on the CD, the answers are given at the click of a button. However, the answers are NOT in the back of the book and the biggest downside is that the CD was designed to run under Windows 98 and runs very happily under Windows XP, BUT, it will not run at all under Windows VISTA. So, DON'T buy it if you are hoping to run the CD with Vista. Otherwise, if you have an older version of Windows, I'd thoroughly recommend it. |
