Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com you're a fxxking choirboy compared to me! | Customer Rating: | End of days is a film that has had alot of criticism thrown at it and clearly some of it has stuck,it isnt a perfect film, there are flaws and holes in the storyline and the odd trick doesnt work but in terms of being dark and sinister this film has it nailed on. Arnie pops up as a beaten down drunk who has lost his faith and much more besides, gabe byrne plays the devil who needs to concieve the spawn of satan and unlock the gates of hell, both forces are sure to meet. The film has some good ideas, while not always realised there is plenty to admire, the violence is good and the pace of the film is lively enough, there is room for sentiment also as arnie has his flaws and is far from a 'terminator' here,as another reviewer stated this compares to other films and betters the odd one in comparison, worth a look for sure. | Good Film | Customer Rating: | | I like arnie's films but i dint lke this one to much, it was ok! He has dont better films. | Throughly Entertaining | Customer Rating: | I think this is one of Arnie's best films - it ranks alongside the terminator films and the ones he made when he was at his acting peak - Commando and Predator. Rather than the comic book hero or the unstoppable machine, here Arnie plays a very human, very flawed man. He is full of pain, remorse and anger. He is suicidal and alcoholic. A desperate man in desperate times, searching for some kind of meaning in what he does. Arnie is not only fighting the devil in this film, but the darkness within himself - and to me, Arnie played his most vulnerable role yet. A man with nothing left in his life, and a terrible choice to make.
Gabriel Byrne is absolutely fantastic as the devil he is obviously having plently of fun, and his character flits between cheeky and menacing in a way that is both amusing and immensely powerful. Robin also plays a wide eyed, innocent role as the destined bride of satan, who is desperate to escape her destiny as the potential biggest threat to mankind ever.
But for me, it's the struggle of good and evil between Arnie and Gabriel's characters that capitvates and holds the screen. Arnie is a man completely burnt out and doesn't fear death or the idea of going to hell, for he has been living in hell for a long, long time. He is driven to save Christine because finally he finds that meaning in his life, and at the end of the film, redeems himself and is finally complete again.
It's a great film, full of explosive effects, great acting turns and stella performances. Definitely worth a four out of five! | COMPETES WITH "KILLER TOMATOES" | Customer Rating: | This may be the movie that inspired Schwartzenneger to change his career to politics!
My son dragged me to END OF DAYS. He loves Schwarzenegger action advernture and so I was a "good Dad" and we saw it.
Halfway through the movie, he apologized to me. I told him, not to worry ... it may become a cult classic that competes with the 1950s "ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES;" considered such a lousy film it's badness is fascinating. However, once in awhile END OF DAYS has a few interesting frames .. but rarly more than one minute's worth. Supposedly, 'TOMATOES has barely one good frame in it.
Maybe in time, END OF DAYS will be come a cult classic ... but not quite yet! | Much better than constantine! | Customer Rating: | | Wow, End of Days is an explosive treat with all the supernatural dazzle. Arnies character thrilled me as a good guy with a "black heart", you never really know what hes gonna do. Gabriel is perfectly cast as the cool sexy Mr. Satan. Polluk does his usual brillant acting. If you were dissapointed with Constantine then this is the film to see. |
