Great book to learn A + P - ODP student's opinion

This is a great book with really clear explanations and lots of excellent pictures. It is really well written and nice to read. There are questions to test yourself at the end of each chapter. 2 negative points - despite this being an International Edition (not for sale in the USA or Canada), there are pages throughout the book referring to US specific careers. And, the paper is shiny and does not seem to be of great quality. Otherwise, I recommend very highly, I haven't done A + P since school and this book has been very easy to get into whilst going into (more than) appropriate depth for my ODP course. I didn't know whether to go for this or Ross and Wilson but looking at them both I personally prefer this one. Some of the info in Ross and Wilson is debatable as well, not what you want for essays, exams and knowledge when working on competence.

What a fantastic book! Every chapter is well written ~ easy to follow pictures ~ review/knowledge questions at the end of each chapter to test understanding and the CDRom is a foolproof learning tool, again monitoring your weaknesses/strengths. Wish I'd bought it 6 months ago!

A superior survey text of human anatomy and physiology.

Marieb's latest edition provides the beginning anatomy student with a readable and informative text. The reading level is best suited to undergraduate students, and the photographs and diagrams stimulate student interest and understanding. Especially useful are the sections on "Developmental Aspects" of anatomy, which includes morphological and physiological changes from embryonic to geriatric stages. While this edition includes updated information since the 1997 edition, some professors and students may prefer the 5th edition (1997) because it is in hardback; the 6th edition is available only in paperback as of this review. Either edition is superior to other texts aimed at similar audiences on the basis of its clarity, readability, and organization.
