I wonder if Lionel Blair, erstwhile performer on Give Us A Clue, ever listens. This was the programme in which contestants had to mime a film, book or play, in silence and with hilarious results. As Humph's introductions to the radio version remind us, the Clue version differs in two important aspects...

I am a total Clue addict, but I nearly died listening to this tape. No record collection should be considered complete without having Graeme singing the words of "Meet the Flintstones" to the tune of "My Way".

You have to hear it!

I'm Not Sorry I Was Stuck In A Traffic Jam...

... because I was able to listen to I'm Sorry I Haven't a Desert Island and the pilot edition of the show while trying to get to work one morning last week. I was probably the only person laughing as I took 30 mins to travel half a mile.

The anniversay episode is good, and the OAPs Ball almost unrepeatable (Mr and Mrs Sert-it-but-to-no-effect, and their twins sons Ike and Justin), but if you want to become an ISIHAC bore, listen to the pilot and discover that One Song To The Tune of Another was the very first game played... Barry Cryer and Willie Rushton were not there - but neither were Samantha or Sven. We can only presume they were trying to reach Mornington Crescent.

Anyway, with traffic queues in abundance along the motorways of our country, go and stock up your car with these tapes so you can while away the hours singing Love Me Tender to the tune of The Archers.

I defy you not to laugh.........................

One of BBC R4 best kept secrets, in terms of not getting the publicity it deserves. Utterly hilarious. ISIHAC has always been a combination of scripted material and impromptu, and this collection captures the comedy genius of the panelists very well....for example.....Modern translations of old phrases (Barry Cryer).."Carpe Diem...........Fish of the Day.....Apres Ski....The yoghurt's all gone". Quite brilliant, and very funny. Very highly recommended.

Hysterically funny

This double cassette of the 'antidote to panel games'is also a wonderful antidote to boredom and gloom. It comprises of three shows, and a 'documentary' on Mornington Crescent, which is presented by Raymond Baxter.

All three of the shows are incredibly funny, and all the regular games (Cheddar Gorge, Mornington Crescent, One Song To The Tune Of Another, Complete Quotes) are there, as well as some less well known rounds (Lyttleton Country, Just a Minim).

This tape will be appreciated by people of all ages, whether or not they have any idea who the panelists are (although Goodies and ISIRTA fans are certain to enjoy it). I can't recommend it enough, and if enough people buy it, hopefully the BBC will take the hint and release it on CD.

Classic stuff

If you are considering buying the best of British comedy then stop there. This radio show is the most consistently funny on radio and the participants on this tape (unfortunately Willie Rushton died around 1997) demonstrate the wonderful comic chemistry between themselves and Humphrey Lyttelton, the show's host.

Please do buy this!
