Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Not as good as earlier BDB books, but still a solid 4 star! | Customer Rating: | I approached Lover Enshrined with trepidation after the disappointing (in my opinon!) ending of Lover Unbound. I wasn't expecting much, as;
a. I never really warmed to Phury throughout the rest of the books
and
b. After reading lots of different reviews, i was expecting a completely different writing style to JR's earlier books.
So i was plesently surprised to actually fall in love with this book, i actually cried in a few places! From the first couple of pages i was hooked into Phury's story, and it was great to really get to know him finally. I loved the Wizard take on his addiction, although every time i read about him i kept getting the song 'The Wizard and I' from the musical Wicked in my head! I also loved reading about the strengthing bond between the next Generation of brothers - JM, Blay & Quinn, and finding out more about the sexy Rehvenge (can't wait for his story).
Yes, there wasn't as much romance in this one, but a strong storyline still holds you gripped.
Yes, there wasn't as much interaction between the orginal Brothers, but the interaction between JM, Blay & Quinn was just as good, and for this series to move on, us, the readers, need to feel drawn to the new characters that will be the focus of the future, so i can see why JR is trying to steer us away from just the original cast, and get us into the newbies. It definately worked for me.. i am intrigued by Lassiter, Payne, Xhex, and of course, the Rev.
To me, this book kinda felt like it was a goodbye to the first arc, and a nice intro into the future arc. I can't wait to see where it takes us, the readers, and the characters in the Brotherhood's world.
A must-read for all BDB fans! | It's an OK book | Customer Rating: | | Her books have been getting weaker and weaker but this is better than the doctor-becoming-a-ghost one,(which unfortunately is a character that keeps popping up). The only reason to buy this one is for the bits with Rehvenge. | Okay...not a three star book. | Customer Rating: | Okay I have to admit that Phury story is probably the least interesting (I hated the wizard thing)out of all the book simple because Phury seems to have nothing else going on except his addiction and his obsesion with Zadist. But I really looked forward to the parts that focused on John and Co (that is why its a four star and not a three for me). I cant wait for the next instalment.. I think J R Ward will be at her best again in the next book and start moving away from Phurys and Vishous slightly boring stories. Probably only one or two good authors out of the whole paranormal romance genre and J R Ward is definitely one of the best. | Brilliant | Customer Rating: | I can't decide if this is my favourite book in the series or if Lover Unbound is. Ward seems to be moving way from straight romance and focusing more on plot which won't be to everyone's taste but personally I prefer it. I think maybe it's time to stop marketing these books are purely romance novels, it's not fair on those who only want to read romance novels to keep marketing them as such and I think it would open her books up to a much wider audience. I loved this book, i couldn't put it down! There's so much going on and as always it's wonderfully written. | I don't know what she was aiming for with this one? | Customer Rating: | | I love J R Ward, I have loved all her books and was soooooo excited about the release of LE, however after reading the reviews from the US site I was not in a hurry to read this latest instalment. A good weekend weather wise and a lack of avalaible fiction on the shelf that I have not read and I thought why not lets give it a try. I really am at a loss for words, although I still enjoyed the book I have to agree that romance this is not, a good story it is. Read up on Lora Leigh, Angela Knight and Christine Feelhan before this read and whack yourself out on hot romanace and J R Wards latest installment will make a nice change. However I find it hard to beleive that this is the same author who wrote passionalty about Wrath, Zadist and Rhage. What happened along the way, did she think the plot was too formatic? It was good but please don't sell your fans down the river, if we want romance then please deliver, don't sell us short. |
