Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com A poorly written waste of my time | Customer Rating: | I struggled mightily with this book and gave up half way through. Carlton Leach is a singularly unlikable individual with a rather strange outlook on life. I've enjoyed stories of hard men in the past (McLean, Shaw etc.) but Leach is just a mindless idiot pumped full of steroids and recreational drugs hiding behind a gun or a knife. I can't think of one redeeming quality he exhibits in the pages I choked down.
I'm sure he's tough enough and have no doubt that he did most (if not all) of what he claims, but by the time I gave up on the book I couldn't give a hoot. I don't mean Leach any harm; I just hope that he's exhausted his literary ambitions and will save an unsuspecting public from further assault.
The book may have been more appealing if the publisher had employed a decent ghost writer - but this is so badly written I might just believe that Leach wrote it himself. Worst of all, the book is boring...
This is my first review for Amazon, and I wish it was more positive - but try as I might I cannot recommend "Muscle" to anyone. | Electrifying | Customer Rating: | It took me a couple of days to read this book. It is a real eye opener into the underworld of gangsterism and mafia. At times the statements were a little scary but, I felt, truthful. This book tells the story of Carlton Leach and his friendship with Nigel Benn and the Essex boys. There are stories of his life and how the underworld of drugs functions. His account of the murders and his days of the doorman and security at the famous Ministry of Sound is excellent. I am now reading Bloggs 19. These books are recommended for anyone interested in gangland accounts. Highly recommended. | SMILE FOR YOUR NEXT BOOKCOVER!!!! | Customer Rating: | | Let's start off with Mr Leach is not a man to mess with he looks the part and that's just on the cover of the book. You would certainly want him on your side if you where in a spot of bother and not knocking on your front door looking for you. In all this was a very good account of the underworld which you can believe or not it's up to you. I enjoyed this book and it will certainly be staying in my book collection. | Muscle | Customer Rating: | Carlton Leach looks the part and sounds the part, he is what he say's he is...HARD!
Whether you read this book and feel that, he led either a somewhat charmed life or stretches the truth a little is for you to decide. To me, this was an easy read about a man who lost close friends whilst living a very perilous lifestyle.
This book is written with real emotion by a man who usually leaves emotion at the front door and although not the longest book in the pile still deserves a place in it. |
