Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Excellent book for the 911 | Customer Rating: | | Paul Frere, the writer of this book ( died in Feb 2008) was a legend within porsche, as a racing driver, a test driver and someone whose opinion was highly respected by Porsche. For example he was present when the PCCM brakes ( ceramic brakes) were introduced and tested in the 996 turbo and present in all major Porsche events, presentations etc. So, he was probably one of the best people to write about an iconic car and its numerous models from 1963 to today. Frere writes about the origins of the 911 and takes us through all the models throughout the years with an engineer's attention to detail. Apart from the numerous pictures there are many diagrams, charts and graphs that indicate performance and design characteristics of each model. There is a lot of useful and interesting details that show how the 911 has and is evolving over 4 decades now. This book has all the technical info one may need to have a very good understanding of all of the 911 models and is a perfect reference to any of the 911 models. A must have, in my opinion for any 911 enthusiast. | The ultimate bible for 911 enthusiasts | Customer Rating: | | Although deeply technical in places, this is an excellent piece of work. The attention to detail is superb and Paul Frere really shows a passion for the porsche marque as well the 911 itself. My only criticisms would be the order the book is written and the poor sequencing of illustrations. |
