Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com Some good ideas | Customer Rating: | I bought this on the strength of the reviews and then almost wished I hadn't. Don't get me wrong, some bits are good, but I'm not impressed having paid for a book to find the recipe for grapefruit juice, containing one ingredient (Yes, grapefruit) 'Cut Grapefruit in half, extract juice, serve immediately' Also in this book is the recipe for Lemon water, ingredients are lemon juice and water... method is 'Pour water into glass, stir in lemon juice and serve immediately'
I'm sure Jennifer is a lovely woman, I am a strong advocate for the raw food way of life, I just wished the pages to be filled with less obvious info. If you are happy to pay for other sole ingredient recipes such as canteloupe smoothie; carrot juice; apple juice; orange juice then this might be the book for you. I'm really after quick, easy and inspiring recipes that do not take all day and a dozen ingredients that are a bit different to the Greek salad and lettuce sandwiches in this book.
One good thing about this book for me is that there is no mention of dehydrators as I don't have one and I prefer recipes that don't need them. There are also a few recipes that are quite handy like pie crust and crumble topping made with nuts, coconut etc.
If you're just starting to think about raw food and need the simplest of things explaining this might be a good book for you. | Too much salt... | Customer Rating: | Although this book may have great recipes most people turn to raw food so they can be healthier.
Pretty much every recipe contains salt, which is a dehydrator and has detrimental effects to the body. Yes you can leave it out, but most people probably don't realise how bad it is.
On top of this it also uses a lot of oil, so I would assume that the recipes are all high fat.
The recipes are good in that they taste nice (I tried some) but as a result of their high fat, high salt content and learning how bad this is on health I moved on.
The book I would recommend for any newbie would be Dr Doug Graham's New High Energy Recipe Guide for recipes and also Victoria Boutenko's Green for Life for smoothie recipes.
As for raw food I would suggest reading 80/10/10 diedt by dr doug graham. It makes more sense than any other raw food book I have read and is the only one I could stick to. | quick and easy | Customer Rating: | | I am delighted with this book. Started off with the walnut & raisin cakes - actually dates, almonds, walnuts, raisins. My husband loves them so I make double batches every few days, and it stops him eating choc bars! Cucumber soup for dinner guests was next - absolutely delicious, one I intend to make again and again. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with the photos or the book itself. All looks fine to me. Thoroughly recommend it. Am looking forward to trying out some more recipes. | Easy and delicious way to get started | Customer Rating: | This is not the first raw food recipe book I've bought, but it is the first that's helpful enough to actually get me started. Last weekend I entertained friends for dinner twice, both times using recipes from this book. The chocolate mousse alone is worth the cover price! European readers may wish to know that American weights & measures are used, but I haven't found this to be a problem. I found the introduction and glossary very helpful as I'm just getting started with raw food, but I imagine this will be great for novices and old hands alike. | Raw Food Made Easy for 1 or 2 People by Jennifer Cornbleet | Customer Rating: | Although I've always eaten healthily, I have only recently been introduced to raw food. I went on a one-day course a few months ago - and haven't looked back! I am just amazed at the variety of dishes that can be made, and how good they can taste.
As I work full time, I wanted a straightforward and practical book with quick and easy recipes, using everyday ingredients, that would encourage me to include more raw food in my diet. This book is perfect! It is set out in a clear and logical manner, with easy-to-follow recipes and invaluable information on individual ingredients, equipment and utensils, and any necessary preparation. A juicer, blender or food processor are required for most recipes, although some require no special equipment. It is also of a handy size and has an attractive and inviting cover.
I have tried several recipes, all of which have only taken minutes to make, and have tasted delicious - and so healthy! I especially enjoyed the Energizing-Purifying Juice and Flourless Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting. I never knew avocado could be used in place of butter, cream and eggs and taste so divine! I have attached a few photos.
I like this book so much that I bought a copy for two of my friends, who are also raw food beginners.
All in all, an ideal kitchen companion for anyone who wishes to create easy, tasty and healthy meals, and discover the benefits and delights of raw food.
