Great book - only the price and ads let it down
Customer Rating:  Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3
This is a straight to the point book on how to do the splits. Its methods certainly work. If you want a clear to the point book on how to do the splits then this is the one to buy, even with the following two points. The reason it gets three stars is two fold. One the book is very short and most of the pages are made of large type and photos as well as lots of adverts for Pavels other publications etc. The second is the price. Okay this is made easier by offers from the marketplace but for the amount of information and content it contains it is overpriced at the list cost. If you are happy to pay for this and the adverts in the book then this is still a good buy, but I would grab it from the Marketplace at a good price.

I own several of Pavels books and I find that they are generally a good read, the information they contain is put in such away that you do not need a degree to read and understand it. That means you can immediately read, understand and use the information within. How many books can you say that about?
Yes there is some publicity for his other products, but the man himself admits that he has turned into a "capitalist running dog" but that do's not subtract from the information with. I am quitely adding to my "Pavel" collection. I know recommend this book to my students when they need to learn about stretching.
Beware of the man's sense of humour though.

Too much padding & over priced

Pavel's books are full of blank spaces (he'll fill the top half of a page with a photograph or type and then leave the bottom half blank). He also uses large type and spaces deliberately in order to make the books longer than they need to be.
His kettlebell excerises are very good for the back, shoulders and hamstrings, although you should ignore his advice about not warming up beforehand (I've injured my shoulders by not warming up).

As for "Super Joints" and "Relax into Stretch", I found them hugely disappointing. "Relax Into Stretch" relies largely on one technique and then proceeds to describe stretching exercises that you'll find in many other books, probably at a lower price. In summary-use his kettlebell techniques (with caution) and ignore the rest.

Exellent stretching resource for serious athletes
Customer Rating:  Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5
The two key requirements for any training resource are that (a) the methodology is effective and that (b) it is explained in such a way that the user can implement it effectively, and this book comes up trumps on both counts.

The methods are clearly explained with just the right amount of science, enough to understand the process, but never the less aimed at a practical user rather than a medical audience. All the stretches are also clearly illustrated with good quality photographs ensuring correct implementation.

The only proviso I would make is that the protocols required to achieve results require both mental toughness and pain tolerance, which should not be a problem for those serious about improving performance in their chosen activities, but for those simply seeking increased mobility in everday life I would recommend 'Super Joints' by the same author as an alternative.

I have been researching flexibility deeply for the last 3 years and have not found any practical and commercial books such as this one. he has gathered scientific information we have had for generations and practicalised it. well done. i am releasing my flexibility book later this year and was astonished when i saw his book supported my research, if i knew about his books earlier it would have been easier but my journey was needed. this is a book for champions by a mental champion. Buy it. It's worth it.
