Comedy is a beautiful thing man, in a world where sky news, fox and CNN and especially the written media are so depressing it's essential. Without comedy you'd go insane. So i'll lay my cards on the table i'm a sucker for stand up. Chris Rock, Steve Harvey, Cedric Kyles the late greats Richard Pryer, Bill Hicks and Bernie Mac, are, and were just masters, the sort of kids you'd hang around with at school, as adults you'd wanna socialize with these funny, mature, intelligent guys.
Russell Brand on the other hand is just a juvenile, immature cretin, the sort of kid at school you'd slap round the back of the head and say "shut the hell up you juvenile little b.................itch you're an embarrassment man".
I'll be honest i did try watching Brand 3 or 4 times but it was pretty evident early on this guy was incapable of innovation,it's all about schoolboy titillation, immature pranks, childish sex jokes and just generally acting like a complete kn*b. How the hell even an averagely mature adult can listen to this sh**e beats me.
There's a difference between comedy and acting like a fool and yet some people just can't see it.
To sum up Russell Brand live i'd say i'd say "comedy" for school kids seeking a few juvenile predictable thills and for immature adults who've led sheltered life's and are easily shocked.
For the rest of us who like our comedy a bit more sophisticated, steer clear, it's just a guy in his mid thirties acting like an annoying teenager.
Peter Pan with no brains.
There's always going to be a market for this, but that's more about a lacking education system where people haven't gained the mental wherewithal to see through the infantile rants of the so called comedian Russell Brand.

I Just Don't Know....

.....I mean its weird, an internationally recognised and loved comedian like Brand..I expected more to be honest. It starts off with great promise he got a fantatsic reception when he came on as well as some original crowd interraction made it look like it was going to be a good show. What followed was a sequence of long stories that didn't really keep my attention. Even the audience, who had given him such a rousing reception at the beginning seemed a little bored with long awkward silences until he hit with a weak enough pay off. The observations are good enough but lack a real conviction and punchlines. Having said all that Brand has great Charisma and gets some good laughs from his scene building and doing voices which is entertaining.
Overall not fantastic but not bad enough to throw in the bin... just meh

Don't get it.

I have now taken the decision to never listen to peoples advice again. I was assured that Russel Brand was 'hilarious.' Well I don't get it. I was bored half of the time and actually found myself wanting to press the fast forward button. The man doesn't really tell "jokes" or even "amusing anecdotes." By the end I was left wondering how this man had a career as a 'comedian'. Apparenlty, its enough that he's loud and irritating. Do yourself a favour, watch some real classic stand up comedy like Bill Hicks or Richard Pryor.

Are you joking?

If Peter and Jordan can have a chat show, then Russell can be a comedian. If all you want is to see people from the gossip columns speaking, then knock yourself out. The 90 minute set consists of three jokes/humerous observations that we`ve all shared with the lads down the pub, while skiving off from something or other. Stretch them out to 30 minutes per subject, and apparently you have an hilarious show. If you drink in wine bars instead of going to uni for your masters degree in fasion and fine arts, then this is for you!

good stand up

Russell brand is a man that i find annoying is his overly saturated media work, whether it be the tabloids, radio or tv the man is everywhere, granted he came from a background of drugs and debauchery to work his way to a man that has just got a role in the new st trinians film, this stand up dvd has however educated my brain into thinking that brand is a funny man, certainly for a very adult audience but he knows how to entertain.
The guy has a view on the world that is childish but works,he has an innocence about him that defies the content of his show and again thats a charm that he has mastered, topics are varied and he likes to interject himself with the audience who warm to him like a pot of tea,a good show indeed.
