I'm unable to get to a cinema to see the movie so I decided to read this book to get a feel for the story until the DVD is released. Ultimately it's very disappointing.

The actual writing of the book is clumsy and frankly below average. The author doesn't seem to have many descriptive phrases in his vocabulary, so at times it's very repetitive and you begin to wonder if certain characters are wearing the same clothes for days and have the same strange expression on their face all the time!

I won't give too much away, but the actual story has a promising start, with plenty of mystery, leaving the reader thinking of several possibilities. There's a nice amount of tension and suspense but as the story draws to a close and the loose ends are neatly tied up, you're left thinking "That was lame!". The story sort of peters out into a weak dribbly end, with some very predictable scenes. In reality the reader's own mysterious thoughts and ponderings on the story could have made a better story than the one this actually turns into.

Both the storyline and the writing could have been much better. An opportunity missed.

Terribly written, but interesting and entertaining none the less!

This novelisation is so bad it is hysterical! Mulder has 'puppy-dog eyes' and Scully asks Mulder about his red speedos - I've read much better fanfic! Despite this though, I would highly recommend buying it! If you ignore the writing style it gives a great insight into the original film script including lots of cut scenes and dialogue which help to answer a lot of questions the movie raised. Also, it's great for a laugh! Buy it now!
