I know Ian, so this might be a bit biased, but the BHPA magazine Skywings said "It is possible to learn Paragliding without Touching Cloudbase, but is hard to imagine whay anyone would want to try". This book is also used as a course text book by paragliding schools in many countries and has useful revision info for all the UK pilot rating system exams.
